  4. Wade comes close again!

James Wade celebrated the birth of his son with a superb run to the final of the European Darts Trophy.

The Team Unicorn star and wife Samantha have just welcomed son Arthur into the world, but it was back to business for Wade in Germany.

He eventually lost out 8-3 in the final to Michael van Gerwen who claimed an 8th Euro Tour victory of the year.

Wade’s run to the final means he will be the 6th seed at the European Championship in Dortmund at the end of the month and he will have a tough 1st Round draw against German Martin Schindler.

Although Wade’s long wait for a tournament victory goes on, it was still a superb weekend for ‘The Machine’.

In the final, from two legs apiece Van Gerwen took control and he raced to an incredible 28th Euro Tour title in all.

The World No.1 averaged 111, hit a superb 119 check-out which was bull, single 19 bull and there were 10, 11 and two 12 dart legs for good measure. Wade actually

The 38-year-old from Osaka won the PDC Japan qualifier in Tokyo.

  7. Pope Wins Big At PCA Awards!

Pope Wins Big At PCA Awards!

GM would like to extend huge congratulations to our very own Young Gunn, Ollie Pope, who last night was awarded the Natwest PCA Young Player of the Year award.

    OlliePope

In the County Championship, Pope scored 986 runs from just 16 innings, averaging a Bradman-esque 70.42 as his Surrey side stormed to the Championship Title, losing just one match along the way. He finished with a fantastic hundred, his fourth of the year, against Essex to round off an incredible summer.

Pope’s fairy tale 2018 season culminated in a call-up to England’s Test Match squad against India in August playing in the second and third Tests of the 4-1 series win, making an assured 28 in his debut innings.

  8. Anderson too good for De Zwaan in Ireland

He really is in a rich vein of form and Gary Anderson has raced through to the World Grand Prix quarter-finals.

He taught Jeffrey de Zwaan a harsh lesson in their all Unicorn 2nd Round clash in Dublin on Tuesday night.

Anderson lost only one leg in the match and will now face defending WGP champion Daryl Gurney in the last eight.

“It was tough for Jeffrey but he will be a top player in the future,” Gary said. “But things are ok at the moment. I have to keep focused and keep performing.”

The Scot was in control from the off as he nailed an 84 finish to take the opening leg against the throw. He breezed through the set without reply.

De Zwaan won his only leg in levelling the second set but a superb 90 check-out on the bull saw Anderson take the set.

The Dutchman had very few chances. A superb 177 set Anderson up to take the opening leg of the third set on D5. He then hit 174 to leave D4 and won it in some style with

  9. Thank You Trotty!

    Thank You Trotty!

5th Test, Day 3, Saturday 22 August 2009 is the date Jonathan Trott cemented his spot in the England Test team with a century on debut against Australia. It marked a period of stability that English cricket has desperately craved since his final Test Match in 2015 against the West Indies.

At the peak of his powers, the mere mention of the word ‘Trott’ brought calm and poise to every English cricket fan, knowing that if he was at the crease for the day, so too would England be.

Statistics rarely tell the whole story, though Trott's do a pretty good job to dispell that theory. He enjoyed a fabulous career of 52 Test Matches,

  10. White wins but Wade and Smith bow out

Ian White is into the 2nd Round at the World Grand Prix but Team Unicorn stablemates Michael Smith and James Wade fell at the first hurdle in Dublin.

Wade slumped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Mensur Suljovic, while Smith lost a thriller to Adrian Lewis in the best match of the 1st Round.

White actually made hard work of beating youngster Josh Payne. It was a lot closer than the two sets to nil scoreline suggests.

Three 180s took him to the first set and he won the first leg of the second set with a clinical 13 darter after Payne had hit back-to-back 180s.

An 88 check-out took White to the verge, but he then missed two match darts to allow Payne back in. The Unicorn ace then blew five more match darts and Payne made it 2-2!

He was a little edgy! But those nerves were settled by a 6th maximum and he finally got there on ‘tops’ with his 8th match dart and he will now face Suljovic in the last 16.

Smith was involved in a Dublin
