Ben Compton
- Profile
The grandson of legendary cricketer-footballer Denis Compton, Ben left Nottinghamshire to join Kent at the end of the 2021 season.
During the English off-season, he turned out for Mountaineers in Zimbabwe and set about making 2022 his own.
In January, he scored a maiden first-class century, 109* v Tuskers in The Logan Cup, and went on to finish leading run-scorer in Zimbabwe’s 2021–22 Pro50 Championship, which Mountaineers won. Ben was also named Batter of the Tournament.
Compton returned to the domestic game and made his Kent debut in April 2022, immediately stamping his mark on the County Championship.
Ben made three centuries in his first two appearances: 129 v Essex and before 104*/115 v Lancashire. In the game against Lancashire, Ben carried his bat in the first innings and was last man out in the second!
