South-African born wicketkeeper-batsman Dane Vilas made his international debut against India in a one-off T20 in 2012. He made his Test bow three years later, against Bangladesh.
Committing to County Cricket in 2017, he joined Lancashire and immediately proved an excellent signing. Despite their 2018 relegation, he hit 235* against Somerset and was the clubs top CC run scorer.
A natural leader, he was named captain in November 2018, spearheading Lancashire’s return to Division One. During that season, Dane notched an imperious 266 off just 240 balls that would include 35 fours and six sixes at Glamorgan. The innings was part of 1,036 runs scored at an average of almost 80!
Dane’s excellent form shows no sign of abating. In April 2022, he secured his latest century, a scintillating 139 v Gloucestershire.
