Already showing a talent for timing and elegance, the Hampshire and England batter made his Championship debut in 2009 aged just 18.
He was a member of Hampshire's 2010 T20 winning team and scored his maiden first-class century against Yorkshire, hitting 180, in the same year.
The stylish right-hander brought up 1,000 runs for his home club whilst still a teenager, becoming the second youngest player in history to do so for the county.
His career-best First-Class score came in the summer of 2014 when a sublime innings of 240, at better than a-run-a-ball, made him the quickest player to reach 1,000 runs in Division Two. His contribution was pivotal in Hants’ title-winning season.
In 2015, international recognition beckoned. Vince made an ODl England debut against Ireland in May, and a Twenty20 debut against Pakistan in November – he scored 41, 38 and 46 and was named Man of the Series.
In May 2016, he was added to the Test squad for Sri Lanka's visit and won his first cap in the first Test at Headingley. In July 2021 Vince struck his first ODI century with a stylish 102 versus Pakistan at Edgbaston.
That year, James went on to lead Southern Brave to The Hundred title and was the side’s highest run scorer, making 229 runs in 10 matches.
Title-winning campaigns have become second nature to Vince, with further victories across all competitions in England as well as Down Under with the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League.
The 33-year has represented his country on 55 occasions in total, whilst amassing almost 30,000 runs across the world in his career to date.
