Sam Cook

Control, movement and no little pace, Essex’s Sam Cook has all the ingredients needed to bowl in elite cricket.

‘Little Chef’ bagged two five-fors in his first four Championship appearances – at the end of the 2017 season. In 2019, he landed 32 wickets at 21.03 as Essex lifted the Championship trophy and was part of the Eagles’ T20 success.

It was in August 2019 that Cook really made the books, his career-best 7 for 23 a ‘remorselessly consistent line and length bowling’, saw Kent skittled for just 40 – it was Kent’s fourth-lowest County Championship score in 150 years.
