Olly Stone

A bowler that strikes fear into many a batter, Olly Stone’s talent was easily-recognisable when he burst onto the scene in 2013 for England U19s, registering 11-79 against South Africa in Paarl.

The speedster had already made his professional debut two years previous, in a T20 match for Northamptonshire and continued his rise through the ranks by topping the Division One County Championship bowling averages in 2014.

While injury has blighted some of Olly’s progress, he has always remained on England’s radar. In July 2019, he was named in the Test squad v Ireland, taking 3-29 in the first innings.

Further injuries followed and, after a five-year stint with Warwickshire, Stone made the move to Trent Bridge hoping to reignite his England career.

After a troublesome 2023, the 31-year-old showed glimpses of being back to his best this summer, topping the Outlaws’ wicket-taking charts in the Vitality Blast with 15 scalps.

On the red-ball front, Stone showed he was more than just a bowler with three half-centuries, including a career-best 90, and made his first Test appearance for five years against Sri Lanka at the Oval.
