Luke Wood
- Profile
Pace, a left-arm angle and a handy lower-order batter; attributes that made Luke Wood an eye-catching prospect when he burst onto the scene with Nottinghamshire in 2015.
Aged just 19, he made 11 County Championship appearances, breaking into a side that could count Jake Ball, Harry Gurney and Stuart Broad, to name a few, as part of the fast-bowling cartel.
In his debut summer he took 30 wickets and showcased his all-round abilities with a maiden First-Class century from 105 deliveries, including ten fours and six sixes.
A back-to-back Vitality Blast winner in 2017 and 2018, with Notts and Worcestershire respectively, the paceman was a hot property at the end of the 2019 season, eventually joining Lancashire.
Capable of reaching speeds of up to 90mph and able to clear the ropes with the bat in hand, Wood’s stock has risen further in recent years with franchise stints in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia and, in 2024, India.
He won The Hundred with Trent Rockets in 2022, making England debuts in 50-over and T20 cricket in the same year.
