Team Unicorn Global youngster Harry Ward, 20, has qualified for the Coral UK Open Finals at Butlins Minehead resort next month.
Former PDC Development Tour finalist 'Big H' won the Rileys Coventry knockout yesterday, to secure his second UK Open appearance, having previously played in the 2016 event.
Swadlincote based Ward was in superb form all day, reeling off numerous 11 and 12 dart legs en-route to the final where he defeated Ian McFarlane. The final itself was very close, where Ward eventually edged it 5-4, having to break the McFarlane throw in the decider, checking out 86 for a 12 dart leg to seal his spot at Minehead.
Bricklayer by trade Ward, was back to the day job today, but had time to reveal his joy ''I'm pleased to have qualified for the UK Open, as the last few weeks at Q-School and at the Challenge Tour have been tough. But now it's onto Minehead, where I hope I can show everyone what I can do and most importantly play to my capabilities''.
