    Incredible Dimitri crowned World Matchplay Champion!

    Belgian star Dimitri van den Bergh sensationally won his first televised ranking title at the 2020 Betfred World Matchplay on Sunday, overcoming former champion Gary Anderson with a dominant 18-10 victory in an all Team Unicorn final.

    In his debut year at the event, the young Belgian claimed the Phil Taylor trophy in emphatic style at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, averaging almost 100 and hitting four ton-plus finishes along the way.

    A nervy start to the final saw the pair struggling to score freely, with both players averaging just 87 going in to the first break, Van den Bergh leading 3-2.

    Gary Anderson and Dimitri Van den Bergh will clash in an all Team Unicorn Betfred World Matchplay final on Sunday evening after battling through thrilling semi-final contests in Milton Keynes.

    The £700,000 tournament will conclude on Sunday as Scottish ace Anderson challenges for his second title in three years after seeing off Michael Smith 18-16 in a tie-break.

    Van den Bergh, meanwhile, became the first debutant to win through to the final since James Wade in 2006 with a narrow 17-15 defeat of Glen Durrant in another exciting contest.

    Anderson lifted the Phil Taylor Trophy in 2018 and remains on course for another success in the tournament after surviving Smith's fightback.

    Debutant Van den Bergh, held off Lewis' fightback from 8-2 down to claim a 16-12 win and reach the semi-finals on his debut in the World Matchplay.

    2018 champion Gary Anderson will face Michael Smith in a tasty all Team Unicorn semi-final of the 2020 Betfred World Matchplay after the pair defeated Simon Whitlock and Krzysztof Ratajski respectively at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes on Thursday night.

    Smith began the night with a dogged display to overcome Polish number one Ratajski with a 16-13 win, before Anderson went on to secure his spot in the final four with a hard-fought win over Michael van Gerwen’s conqueror, Simon Whitlock.

    Anderson, who came into the match on the back of a second round win over James Wade, began the match the brighter of the pair, taking a 4-1 lead into the opening interval.

    Home Tour delight for Team Unicorn duo!

    Team Unicorn duo Gary Anderson and Jelle Klaasen secured places in the Low6 Home Tour Play-Offs Championship Group on Wednesday.

    Two-time World Champion Anderson and former Lakeside Champion Klaasen booked their spot in Friday's Home Tour decider by claiming wins over Dave Chisnall and Mike De Decker in their opening two matches of Semi-Finals Group One.

    Chisnall gained consolation with a 6-5 win over De Decker in their final match of the night, before Anderson saw off Klaasen 6-2 to top the Group One table.

    It now makes it nine victories in a row on the Home Tour for Anderson, having won all three of his groups undefeated.

    Latvian star Madars Razma has extended his contract with Unicorn Darts.

    Razma, aged 31, regained his PDC Tour Card at European Q-School in January 2019 with a run to the final on the third day, which saw him finish first on the Order of Merit, giving him at least another two years on the PDC Pro Tour. 

    Along with his full-time commitment to the PDC Tour, Razma remains a mainstay on the PDC Nordic & Baltic Tour and via that route after topping the Order of Merit, he earned a prized spot at last years World Championship, where he was just edged by Team Unicorn stablemate Harry Ward in a second round thriller.

    White claims first title of 2020

    Ian White claimed his first title of the year at Players Championship 8 in Barnsley on Sunday, defeating James Wade 8-3 in an all Team Unicorn final.

    White produced an incredibly consistent level throughout the day, averaging over 100 in all but one of his seven victories, including a 111.3 in his win over John Henderson in the last 32.

    A winner of two European Tour events in 2019, White began the second day of the ProTour double-header with wins over William Borland, Diogo Portela and Henderson.

    The 49-year-old then overcame Stephen Bunting in the last 16 before a 109.7 average was enough to see off Dave Chisnall in the last eight.

    Team Unicorn star Michael Smith celebrated his first televised nine-dart finish in Dublin on Thursday.

    Smith followed two 180s with a sublime 141 checkout to bring 9,000 fans to their feet at a sell-out 3Arena, hitting the Premier League's first perfect leg for almost three years.

    The moment of magic came in the fourth leg of a tight contest as he levelled, with Gurney then leading 5-4 before seeing Smith claim the game's final three legs to take victory.
