Another near miss for Kim

Unicorn ace Kim Huybrechts agonisingly missed out on the big prize again on the European Tour.

The Belgian lost a dramatic final at the International Darts Open in Riesa for a second consecutive year.

Huybrechts was beaten 6-5 by Peter Wright in Germany on Sunday, 12 months after losing the final to Mensur Suljovic.

He led 3-1 and 4-2 against the top seed as Wright battled back with a 101 finish to make it four apiece and in a thrilling deciding leg, the World No.3 nailed a 116 check-out for a 12 dart leg to take the title.

And Wright also put himself in the history books.....this was his 10th PDC title of the years and 'Snakebite' is only the fourth man to achieve that feat. Wright had earlier beaten Ronny Huybrechts 6-4 in the 3rd Round.

Kim Huybrechts though, will feel the darting gods were against him after coming so close again. On Sunday, he won a terrific all Unicorn clash with Ian White 6-5 in the last 16.

White had the honour of becoming only the third player to appear in 50 Euro Tour events.

The Belgian then saw off Gerwyn Price 6-4 in the quarter-finals before winning an all Unicorn semi-final 6-2 against Joe Cullen.

Cullen actually missed D18 for a 9 darter in the semi-final but enjoyed another great tournament as he closes in on a place in the world's top 20. He also hit the highest average of the weekend.....113.77 in his 2nd Round win over Richie Corner.
