    Play Like England's Best

To play like Ben Stokes is to play without fear. To look into the bowlers eyes and know full well that by the time he looks up to see if it’s a good ball, it’s already racing towards the boundary. It’s the Ben Stokes way.

Perhaps up until now, you’ve been wondering how you can incorporate his fearlessness into your game. Fear not, for GM has four solutions for you.

The first solution is the Phase 1 Ben Stokes Player Edition bat, complete with his engraved signature strikes fear into the opposition for you. The opposition know that as you stroll out to the middle, you mean business. They’re going to have to get you out, you won’t be getting yourself out. Not anymore.

Despite a frustrating winter for England Cricket overall, there were still a few bright sparks amongst the darkness that comes from defeat.

Dawid Malan held the Gunn and Moore flag highest of all in the Ashes when he made a stunning 140 in the third Ashes Test in Perth. Malan finished the Ashes tour as England’s highest run scorer, notching up a further three 50’s to finish with 383 runs at an average of 42.69.

Anya Shrubsole awarded MBE for services to cricket

GM would like to extend a huge congratulations to England star Anya Shrubsole for her inclusion in the New Year Honours List. The last twelve months will live long in the memory for the 26 year old after helping England win the Women’s World Cup, being nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award in December, and being part of the England women’s cricket team who won the SPOTY Team of the Year award.

Anya popped into GM HQ recently to pick up some kit ahead of a winter training camp and for a quick chat.

“2017 will without doubt go down as one of the most memorable years ever! To win a World Cup on home soil, in front of a sold out Lord’s is the sort of things dreams are made of. For the whole team is was the result of a lot of hard work and to come out on top was amazing. I think it would be fair to say it changed a lot of the girls life’s for the better but most importantly really put women’s cricket further on the

From the Playground to the Test Arena

Well doesn't a lot happen in eight days of the Ashes? And, for most of the time, this is the reason why we are well and truly hooked on every Ashes Test Series, at home and abroad.

Where do we start with the 1st Test? During the first three days, the game was played like a junior playground game of football where eventually a couple of the big lads on the opposition side managed to kick a few of the smaller lads a bit harder and then score vital goals whilst distracting them. Did Australia play smarter cricket? Probably! Did Australia play harder cricket? Without question! When you have so much pressure put on you , you finally fall. England fell flat on their faces and the chirpy old Aussies romped home with a test win.

Three things won't change throughout the whole of the series and I know I'm repeating myself but: 1) First innings runs 2) 20 wickets 3) Control from Spin. Are you starting to see the story unfold.

One thing that I took from the pundits after the

    GM at the Ashes 2017/18

So, all the trash talking is done, players prepped and team selected. Who has the advantage? Only tonight at midnight (GMT) when the players take centre stage for the first time can the cricket can finally do the talking .

I look forward to sitting back tonight and watching the cricket , if sleep deprivation allows. For more than one reason, like most of the Unicorn Group workforce, I will have added interest in how our GM guys get on, Dawid Malan , James Vince & Jake Ball have all been selected for the first test and we wish them the very best of luck. Team GM in Nottingham at the factory, everyone one of them have put something into what the guys will be using on the field of play tonight. So hopefully

Anya Shrubsole wins 2017 Christopher Martin-Jenkins Spirit of Cricket Award

England women’s bowler Anya Shrubsole has won the 2017 Christopher Martin-Jenkins Spirit of Cricket Award.

Gunn & Moore star Shrubsole becomes the first women’s cricketer to receive the award thanks to her selfless actions in the ICC Women’s World Cup Semi-Final victory over South Africa at Bristol in July.

In a tense finish, England booked their place in the World Cup Final at South Africa’s expense with only two balls remaining, having already lost eight wickets.

Shrubsole’s boundary off Shabnim Ismail sealed the victory for England, but in an act akin to Andrew Flintoff consoling Brett Lee at Edgbaston in 2005, the 25 year-old seamer opted to comfort distraught South Africa captain Dane van Niekerk before celebrating with her teammates.

England of course went on to win the World Cup in thrilling fashion at Lord’s later in the month in front a packed crowd, as Shrubsole bowled the hosts to victory over India with
