James Wade reached his third final of the year in Barnsley on Tuesday but couldn’t quite get over the line.

The Team Unicorn star lost 6-2 to Mervyn King in the final of Players Championship 15 after a superb day.

It was King’s first title for almost four years as he averaged 105 to edge out Wade in the final.

Wade banged in a 126 finish on the bull to counter King’s 127 check-out on the bull, but the Unicorn man missed some chances and King took full advantage....from 3-2 in front he won three legs on the spin to close out the final.

En route, Wade beat the likes of Robert Thornton, Chris Dobey, Rob Cross and Steve Beaton.

Dobey’s fine run to the last 16 was matched by Unicorn young gun Adam Hunt.

Michael Smith and Ian White both reached the quarter-finals at the Barnsley Metrodome. Smith lost 6-3 to Beaton and White went down 6-4 to King.
