Michael Smith is in the form of his life.

On the back of his terrific Premier League form, the Team Unicorn star has claimed his second Pro Tour title of the year.

Smith won Players Championship 7 in Barnsley, beating Adrian Lewis 6-2 in a dominant display in the final.

Smith is in great touch, following his impressive demolition of Raymond van Barneveld in the Premier League with another fantastic performance on Saturday.

“I said at the start of the year I wanted to win four titles in 2018 and I’m half way there now, so I may have to look again at my targets! Obviously a big TV title this year is the dream and it is a dream I’m chasing,” he said.

He started the day with an exceptional performance to whitewash fellow St Helens player and good friend Eddie Dootson with a 113 average and that set the tone.

Smith followed that with victory over Gary Eastwood before a thrilling last leg win over Jermaine Wattimena as the Unicorn star won the last three legs in 12, 11 and 13 darts!

The St Helens man then whitewashed Kyle Anderson in a one-sided all Unicorn clash and he saw off James Wilson 6-4 in the last eight.

He was then involved in a thrilling all St Helens semi-final against Dave Chisnall. Chizzy hit two 160+ finishes but Smith came from 3-5 down to snatch it after Chisnall missed a dart at the bull in the decider.

In the final Smith came up with stunning finishes of 158 and 130 on the bull and Lewis had no answer. He really has taken the step to the next level in 2018. That TV title will take Smith to the top level.
