GM Down Under

Australia

Despite a frustrating winter for England Cricket overall, there were still a few bright sparks amongst the darkness that comes from defeat.

Dawid Malan held the Gunn and Moore flag highest of all in the Ashes when he made a stunning 140 in the third Ashes Test in Perth. Malan finished the Ashes tour as England’s highest run scorer, notching up a further three 50’s to finish with 383 runs at an average of 42.69.

Jake Ball played in the First Test Ashes Test in Brisbane, picking up a vital wicket and contributing some handy runs at the bottom of the order, putting his GM Neon L540 to good use.

James Vince was another GM batsman who came away with his reputation enhanced in what was a difficult tour for most with the bat. Vince made a good account of himself by scoring two typically stylish half-centuries, including a wonderful 83, in the first test.

Malan also smashed three 50’s in four matches against Australia and New Zealand in the T20i Tri-Series after the Ashes, picking up a wicket to boot, showcasing his all-round talents.

New Zealand

Following the Ashes defeat, England made their way across the Tasman Sea to New Zealand where GM’s newest signing, England’s superstar all-rounder Ben Stokes, joined his new GM teammates and unveiled his brand new GM Zelos L555 bat in the second test.

Vince also came back strong after missing the first Test of the series, adding another eye-catching half-century in Christchurch, whilst Malan continued his fine form, scoring yet another 50 to add to his impressive winter collection.

This meant that three of England’s top six batsmen now use a GM bat.

Prior to the tests, England faced another GM batsman in the shape of Ross Taylor who continues to show why he is the Blackcaps finest One Day batsman. Taylor proceeded to smash two hundreds against England in the three match ODI series, including an astonishing 181*, featuring 7 sixes, showcasing his GM Zelos L555 in all its glory.
