Will Young

Captain of his country at the 2012 U19 Cricket World Cup, New Zealand’s Will Young had to wait almost eight years to make a full debut for the Black Caps.

A natural leader, he made a first-class debut for Central Districts in 2011 and became the team's captain four years later, aged 23. Under his captaincy the Central Stags won the one-day Ford Trophy (2016) and the First-Class Plunket Shield unbeaten in 2018.

After his domestic success, Will stepped down from the captaincy to focus on making the NZ side. In 2019, he scored 130 & 111 in succession for a New Zealand XI against Australia in a ODI series. Will finally made a Test debut in December 2020, against the West Indies, T20 debut followed in March 2021.

In March 2022, Will scored his maiden ODI century – a phenomenal 103* married calmness and aggression. After making 134 against Warwickshire in the County Championship just a couple of months later, it appears the Northants opener is, understandably, eager to display his talents.
