George Bartlett

Coming through the Somerset ranks, George Bartlett announced himself to the cricketing world in February 2017. George etched his name in the record books by scoring 179 for England U19s in the Youth Test series v India in Nagpur. It was the highest score ever made by an England Under-19 batsman overseas, beating a Nasser Hussain 170 that had stood for 30 years.

Later that year, at senior level, in his second Championship appearance for Somerset (v Lancashire) he hit the winning runs and in 2018 scored 306 runs in six Championship matches including his maiden century (again v Lancashire). In 2019, he also made hundreds at Trent Bridge and Guildford.

The records keep tumbling: in August of last year, George’s majestic 108 against Leicestershire included seven sixes and was the highest score by a Somerset #6 in List A cricket – his score topping Ian Botham’s 106 v Hampshire in 1981.
