Sarel Erwee

• Biography

Through a sheer weight of runs on the domestic scene, having made his debut back in 2008, Sarel Erwee earned himself a ten-match stint at the top of the South African Test Match order in 2022/23.

Around the Proteas red-ball set up since late 2020, Erwee finally got his chance to transform his First-Class record into the Test arena in late 2022.

He wasted little time in making his mark, a maiden Test century coming against New Zealand in Christchurch in just his third innings.

Going toe-to-toe with the fabled attacks of England and Australia, a fifty at Lord’s followed with Erwee’s ten games yielding 479 runs in total.

Predominantly a longer format player, Erwee has 17 further three figure scores on the domestic scene (12 FC, 4 List A, 1 T20) and in excess of 11,000 runs.
