Matt Short
- Biography
Capable of clearing boundaries with his long levers and taking handy wickets with his off-spin, Matt Short’s talents make him a hot property in the short format game.
After representing Australia at the 2014 U19 World Cup, where he scored 237 runs, it took a move away from his native Victoria to really ignite his career.
Following back-to-back player of the tournament accolades in BBL12 and BBL13, Short made his international T20 debut against South Africa in Durban, adding an ODI cap less than a month later against India.
Sitting at just under 3,000 runs from 125 T20 matches the majority of Short’s success has come on home soil but he has enjoyed stints in The Hundred, Indian Premier League and Major League Cricket.
No stranger to the First-Class arena either, Short’s 2,800 runs have come across 56 matches at an average of just under 35, including four centuries, to go with 41 wickets.
After being given the chance to open for Australia in 50-over cricket following the retirement of David Warner, Short earned his first call up for an ICC event after being named in the 15-man squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
