Matty Hurst
- Biography
A wicketkeeper/batter, Matty Hurst signed a maiden deal with Lancashire at the end of 2022 and, in the last two summers, has been on quite the journey.
An integral part of the England Under 19s Ashes tour in early 2023, Hurst made his full Red Rose debut in that summer, playing all eight of Lancashire’s One-Day Cup fixtures.
His red-ball debut followed, with unbeaten scores of 54 and 76 showing a sign of things to come, the youngster establishing himself as Lancashire’s first-choice keeper in 2024, playing all 14 County Championship matches, returning 677 runs with five fifties and a maiden century against Nottinghamshire.
Couple that with a full run in the Lightning’s Vitality Blast campaign, which earned him a spot in Manchester Originals’ line-up for The Hundred, and Hurst has been an ever-present on the cricketing scene in 2024.
Two fifties in six matches for the Originals, along with his First-Class returns, saw Hurst named as part of the England Lions’ tour of South Africa, before he’ll leave to join up with Perth Scorchers for his first taste of the BBL.
