Jake Ball
- Profile
A short-format winner the world over, Jake Ball’s career has been littered with accolades including hat-tricks and debut five-fers, alongside a consistent presence on the wicket-taking charts each summer.
Making his Nottinghamshire List A debut in 2009, Ball added a First-Class cap two years later and was named the Club’s Young Player of the Year in 2012.
In 2013, his 4-25 in the semi-final of the Yorkshire Bank 40 sent the Outlaws to Lord’s, a fixture Ball missed through injury, but would still mark as the first of four white-ball trophies he would secure with the club.
He made an immediate impact for England, becoming the first bowler to take five wickets on international debut in 2016, a feat made even more remarkable due to the challenging conditions of Dhaka.
A Test debut followed against Pakistan at Lord’s and Ball was a member of the 2017/18 Ashes squad, playing his last long format game for England in Brisbane.
At club level, Ball’s 22 wickets in the NatWest T20 Blast in 2017 guided the Outlaws to their first short format triumph, a year in which the seamer also won the Royal London One-Day Cup alongside his teammates.
He took a further 19 wickets in the Outlaws’ second T20 triumph of 2020, a year in which he was also part of a successful Sydney Sixers side in the Big Bash Down Under.
Making the move to Somerset ahead of the 2024 summer, after nearly 15 years in the Midlands, Ball took 30 wickets across the Vitality Blast and County Championship, whilst also representing Welsh Fire for a fourth consecutive summer in The Hundred.
