George Balderson

Equally comfortable with bat or ball, Lancashire secured this exciting young all-rounder to his first professional contract in 2018.

The next summer, George was adding a third string to his bow, that of captaincy, as he led the Young England Lions in the Rising Stars Tri-Series in Antigua, returning 15 wickets with the ball in hand.

He made his Red Rose debut the following year and has been ever-present for Lancashire since, making 79 appearances to date.

A career-best 5-14 in his breakthrough summer of 2022 came in a nail-biting victory over Essex and included the wickets of Sir Alastair Cook, Dan Lawrence and Matt Critchley in consecutive deliveries to claim a hat-trick at the tender age of 22.

The youngster kicked on in 2023, taking the Club’s Young Player of the Year award after 702 runs and 23 wickets in the County Championship, including his first centuries in the format.

The all-rounder was one of only five Lancashire players to play every four-day fixture last summer, ending the year as the Red Rose’s leading wicket-taker in the format with 36 scalps.
