Freya Kemp

Budding all-rounder Freya Kemp added to GM’s stock of England cricketers, lining up alongside the likes of Ben Stokes, Amy Jones, Ben Duckett, Danielle Gibson and Jacob Bethell.

The 19-year-old made her England debut in July of 2022, representing her country at that year’s Commonwealth Games, ending as the Three Lions’ leading wicket-taker.

Following that breakthrough tournament Kemp etched her name into the record books with an unbeaten 51 against India, becoming the youngest ever England player to score a fifty in a T20I, aged just 17 years and 145 days.

Her stellar summer was capped by being named the PCA Women’s Young Player Of The Year at the end of season awards.

She was awarded a first Central Contract in November of that same year before a stress fracture of the back saw her return early from a tour of the West Indies.

Playing the entire 2023 English domestic summer as a batter, Kemp was an integral part of the Southern Vipers’ historic domestic double, including a match-winning partnership in the final of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.

The nerveless 18-year-old also contributed a 17-ball 31 to help steer her side, Southern Brave, to a first The Hundred title at Lord’s.

She returned to the England fold in August of 2023 and was part of the Three Lions’ squad for the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup in Abu Dhabi.

In the One-Day International series to Ireland in September that preceded the World Cup, the all-rounder produced career-best analysis of 2-7 with the ball and 65 from 47 with the bat in a thumping England victory.
