Ben Compton
- Profile
The Compton family have long been synonymous with cricket, with Ben the third cricketer of that surname to play the sport professionally.
Grandson of Denis and cousin to Nick, both former England players, Ben’s career ignited when he made the move to Kent from Nottinghamshire at the end of the 2021 season.
He hit three centuries in as many innings for his new Club, the first men’s player for Kent to score back-to-back hundreds in their first two knocks since Martin van Jaarsveld in 2005.
The left-hander didn’t stop there and soon moved to 1,000 Championship runs for the season in June, ending his first year with Kent with an average of 54.22.
In between English seasons he’s represented the Mountaineers in Zimbabwe where he notched a career-best 217 in the winter of 2022/23.
Whilst his returns for Kent in 2023 and 2024 haven’t reached the heights of those of his first year, he’s still amassed a further 1,568 Championship runs, taking his First-Class tally above 4,000 in the process.
