In 2018, a new Australian talent entered the game, and his name was Jack Edwards.
Opening the batting for his country in the Under-19 World Cup, later that year he made history with 116 against Queensland as the youngest player to make a century in Australia’s One-Day competition.
He added a first Sheffield Shield century just a month later, averaging nearly 30 with the bat in First Class cricket and under 27 with the ball in 37 matches to date, showcasing his all-round talents.
Injuries have blighted his progress through the ranks but routinely he has stepped onto the field, for New South Wales or Sydney Sixers, he has produced match-defining moments.
In 2023-24 his impact mainly came with the ball with 47 scalps across the Sheffield Shield, Marsh Cup and the Big Bash, as Sydney Sixers got made the final in the latter.
He maintained that impact with the ball heading into the last summer, with a maiden ten-wicket haul inspiring a thrilling Blues victory over Western Australia with just 13 balls remaining of the game.
