Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes has already established himself as one of the modern-day greats of the cricketing world. His incredible capability with the bat make him one of the most destructive batters in cricket whilst his ability to bowl 90mph with the ball combine to make him one of the rarest commodities in sport; a genuine all-rounder.

Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, The all-rounder made his England Test Match debut in the 2013-14 Ashes Series and in just his second match, scored his maiden hundred. Just two matches later he took his maiden 5 wicket haul against the same opposition as he emerged as one of the few players with an enhanced reputation following England’s 5-0 Ashes defeat.

Often compared to England’s greatest all-rounders, Stokes’ feats to date make him one of the exciting and recognisable players today. He is the proud owner of the fastest 250 in Test Matches after his incredible innings in Cape Town in which he made 258. In 2015, Stokes’ defining Test Match against New Zealand saw him break the record for the fastest hundred at the Home of Cricket, Lords, in the second innings having made 92 runs in the first innings.

In 2017, he was the most expensive overseas signing in the IPL, bought by Rising Pune Supergiants, but quickly justified his price tag as he was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, scoring a fifty and a hundred to go along with his 12 wickets.
