Dawid Malan

Dawid Malan has been one of County Cricket’s most talented and, at times, devastating batters since making his professional debut in 2006.

As a 20-year-old for Middlesex in 2008, he came in at No 6 to hit a brilliant unbeaten hundred in a Twenty20 quarter-final against a Lancashire attack containing Andrew Flintoff, Glen Chapple and Dominic Cork to alert the County game that they had a serious talent on their hands.

Malan made his first foray into the International game with a blistering 78 from 44 balls in 2017 - the highest T20 innings by an England debutant. This performance turned enough heads that just a month later, combined with strong First Class form, he made his Test debut against South Africa at The Oval. He was further rewarded with a place in the Ashes squad where he made England's first hundred of the Ashes series after they had reached the WACA 2-0 down and the first International century of his career.

Malan found himself somewhat unfortunate to have been dropped from his spot but in 2019 he was announced as Middlesex captain for the 2019 season as he looks to find his way back into the England team.
