A cricketing talent unearthed in unusual fashion; Sammy King has made the most of his introduction to the nation’s summer sport by forging a career with Nottinghamshire.
Born in the county, King was picked for the Nottingham High School Year 7 team having never previously played a match, his natural eye bringing him a 33-ball 85.
An Academy Player of the Season in 2020, as captain, King graduated to the full-time ranks in 2021 and made his List A debut as a concussion substitute in the Royal London Cup.
Last term he debuted in the Outlaws’ final Vitality Blast match against Yorkshire with, striking a 25-ball 44, a summer which also saw him return 466 runs at 66.57 in the Second XI Championship.
