Ollie Robinson

Whilst his First-Class career is a decade old, and he boasts 435 wickets at 21.30 across that time, Ollie Robinson’s rise to prominence was more of a slow burn than a burst onto the scene.
Originally debuting for Yorkshire, having struck 1,282 runs and taken 59 wickets for the Second XI in 2013, it is with Sussex where his returns earned him England recognition.
On Championship debut for his new side he struck his only First-Class century, the first Sussex player to do so on their first appearance for 95 years, during a record-breaking tenth-wicket partnership of 164 with Matt Hobden.
He added 46 Championship wickets at 24.71 that year, signing a three-year contract with the side, before reaching new heights under Jason Gillespie three years later.
In 2018, his 74 Division Two wickets left him second to only Matt Henry, whilst a further 63 in the summer of 2019 had the England selectors taking note, his form earning him a trip of Australia with the Lions.
Ever-present in England bubbles across 2020, Robinson’s bow would come in 2021 summer when he took 28 wickets at 19.60, with five-wicket hauls at Trent Bridge and Headingley.
Those returns earned him recognition as one of Wisden’s five cricketers of the year in April 2022 and he has since taken his Test record to 76 wickets at 22.92.
He added a further 39 First-Class calps in 2024 as Sussex romped to the County Championship Division Two title, returning to the top flight for the first time since 2015, where Robinson will be looking to push his national case once more.
