- Profile
A leg spinner and batter capable of featuring anywhere in the top order, California-born Cameron Steel became the youngest double-centurion in Durham's history in August 2017.
Aged just 21, he struck an epic 224 v Leicestershire at Grace Road, batting for more than eight hours and facing 408 balls. Over the course of the Division Two season, he went on to score 889 runs at 40.86 in his debut campaign.
Cameron’s excellent form continued as he scored 638 runs the following season, a total that included 160 off a high-class Sussex attack.
Joining Surrey initially on loan from Durham midway through 2021, each season he has represented the side in the County Championship they’ve come away with the title.
After five appearances in 2022, Steel began the following summer in style with the bat in hand, an unbeaten 141 against Lancashire coming in the first game of the summer.
With his leg-spin bowling becoming increasingly potent since his move down to London, the 29-year-old took 23 wickets in eight matches in 2024, to go with 17 in the One-Day Cup, the third most in the competition.
