How to Choose your Abdominal Guard?
All Abdominal Guards are ambidextrous, they should be a comfortable but not restrictive fit, ensuring sufficient coverage of the vulnerable lower abdomen region. Abdominal Guards range in size from Small Junior to Adult.
How to Wear your Abdominal Guard?
Abdominal Guards are designed to protect your lower abdominal region whilst playing Cricket and are not to be worn to protect another area of the body. This product is not designed for any other sport or activity. The protector should sit comfortably around the abdominal region with the GM logo situated on the outside. In conjunction to the use of an Abdominal Guard we recommend using either Boxer Shorts, Box Briefs or an Athletic Support in order to reduce the risk of an abdominal guard moving around whilst playing cricket.
How to Adjust your Abdominal Guard?
Abdominal guards do not offer any adjustments. Therefore, it is essential to get the correct fit and feel for these personal items of equipment.
How to Care for your Abdominal Guard?
In many cases, the more you use your equipment the shorter the lifespan. However, with proper care and maintenance, you can help to extend this lifespan.
· Don’t expose your equipment to any solvents or harsh chemicals.
· Where possible avoid exposure to direct sunlight, any extreme temperatures or conditions as this will affect the lifespan and appearance of your protective equipment.
· Do not modify, your protection in any way such as: by cutting, removing or adding material from any area of your equipment.
· Unfortunately, the chemicals in sweat can be damaging to cricket equipment. If the protective equipment becomes wet through sweat during normal use, store it in well-ventilated conditions to help remove any residual moisture from the item.
· If you notice excess dirt on your protective equipment, you can remove this by using a clean, soft, damp cloth and then store the gloves in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, till completely dry.
If you notice any of the following, then it would be suggested for you to replace your Abdominal Guard:
· Any splits, cracks or tears
· Severe discolouration – a small amount of discolouration is expected from normal use, such as marks from the sun, sweat, dust, dirt and impact from a Cricket ball.
· If the level of Cricket you regularly play at has improved since you purchased your Abdominal Guard and you no longer feel it provides you with suitable protection.
Young Cricketers are likely to outgrow their Person Protective Equipment, meaning they are no longer fully protected across the desired area. This may also cause some restriction when running between the wickets. It is important to regularly check junior equipment and ensure that it is still a safe size to use.
When storing your Abdominal Guard we recommend the following:
· Use a kit bag to store all your equipment, in a well-ventilated area that isn’t exposed to extreme temperatures.
· If storing equipment over an extended period, such as the winter, we recommend removing any excess dirt and moisture before leaving in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
· If any item of equipment has been cleaned or is wet from normal use. Please ensure it is completely dry before returning to your kit bag or before storing for an extended period.
