He’s done it again!

Gary Anderson has completed brilliant back-to-back Players Championship victories. What a weekend for the Team Unicorn star as he followed up Saturday’s PC 3 win in Barnsley with another spectacular triumph at PC 4 on Sunday!

He saw off Jeffrey de Zwaan 6-2 in the final to make it three fabulous tournament wins in seven days! Of course, it all started with the UK Open success in Minehead.

Anderson is now on a run of 22 matches unbeaten and pockets £20,000 from his superb weekend’s work in South Yorkshire.

It is the second time that Gary has won both events on a Pro Tour weekend. It is also a fourth title of the year. He won a UK Open qualifier, coincidentally beating De Zwaan in that final too.

“The darts have been going well, that’s for sure,” he said. “I have the perfect set up so thanks again to Unicorn for all the hard work they put in on my behalf. I need to pick it up in the Premier League now and string a few wins together.”

In truth, it was another Anderson masterclass. He wasn’t really pushed all day, seeing off Mark Dudbridge (6-2), Tytus Kanik (6-2), Cristo Reyes (6-4) and Rhys Griffin (6-1).

That set up an all-Unicorn quarter-final with the ever-improving Keegan Brown. Gary came close to a 9 darter and won 6-3.

In the semi-finals, Anderson was far too good for Dave Chisnall, winning 6-1 with a 106 average. He produced three 13 dart legs and a 12 darter on the way.

Gary wasn’t at his best in the final, averaging just 92 but it was still far too good for De Zwaan. He raced into a 3-0 lead before the Dutchman got on the board but the Unicorn man banged in an 11 darter and there was no stopping him.

Another great Anderson display.

Apart from Keegan Brown, it was an encouraging day for Unicorn’s Jamie Caven. He got through to the last eight - only his second quarter-final appearance in nearly two years. Caven lost 6-2 to Adrian Lewis, who then missed match darts to win his semi-final before losing in a deciding leg to De Zwaan.

There was also good news for Unicorn youngster Adam Hunt who made it through to the last 16 on Sunday.

Meanwhile, there was a brilliant triumph for Team Unicorn’s Japanese star Seigo Asada. The brand new PDC Asian Tour kicked off in Seoul at the weekend and Asada won the second event, surviving match darts to beat Hyun Chul Park 5-4 in the final.
