GM is delighted to announce that Jason Sangha has signed a two year extension on his contract to continue playing GM, taking him through to June 2020.
The 18-year-old’s stock has risen incredibly quickly in the last 12 months, having made his First Class debut against England ahead of the Ashes Series last winter, representing the Cricket Australia XI where he faced England’s bowling cartel of James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes.
“We are delighted to have extended the contract of the youngest player since Sachin Tendulkar to score a First Class Century vs England. Jason is a very exciting cricketer with an outstanding future in the game,” said Greg Eime from GM Australia.
The knock against England meant that Sangha became the youngest first-class centurion in the country since Ricky Ponting in 1992-93.
“With a New South Wales Blues and Sydney Thunder Big Bash League contract, Jason is set to take his game to another level this summer and showcase his talents. We look forward to continue providing Jason with the world’s best bats, equipment and support to assist him to the next stage of his career,” Eime added.
In 2016, Sangha became the youngest in Australia’s history to be awarded a rookie contract with NSW. He joined an exclusive club of Blues who earned state contracts while still in high school, with only Australian International Josh Hazlewood and Jake Doran to have achieved the feat before him.
Earlier this month, he was announced as one of five players moving from rookie to full-time deals for New South Wales within the senior state squad for 2018-2019..
Sangha was also named as Australia u19 captain for the ICC Under-19 World Cup at the start of the year. He was Australia’s leading run scorer in the tournament with 229 runs, notching up two 50’s along the way as he led his side to the final against India.
GM will be providing Sangha with all the equipment he needs to continue this meteoric rise and we hope to see him raise his GM Neon bat aloft throughout the Australian summer. With two more years on his contract, GM look forward to representing Australia’s best, Made by England’s Best.
