Gary Anderson will face Michael van Gerwen in a blockbuster semi-final at the Grand Slam of Darts.

The Unicorn star was too good for Michael Unterbuchner as he swept to a 16-6 victory on Saturday night in Wolverhampton.

Van Gerwen saw off a brave challenge from Jonny Clayton as he went through courtesy of a 16-12 win.

So over to you Gary!

“I didn’t feel great to be honest. My back was playing up a little again so I just needed to focus and get the job done,” he said.

“Michael has played well all week, so I had to be on the ball. I would love to win this. I’ve been trying for 12 years! But Sunday will be very very tough.”

Despite losing the opening two legs, Anderson soon got into cruise control and it was game over after he reeled off seven straight legs in a blistering spell to go 7-2 up. That run included a brilliant 152 finish to sink the BDO man.

Unterbuchner still kept going and a 101 check-out was followed by a 160 finish. But it was a lost cause and Anderson hit a couple of 180s, a 100 finish and eventually won the match on D1.

The German has certainly made a name for himself at this Grand Slam, but hopefully Gary can make a name for himself with a first Grand Slam crown on Sunday.
