All of those factored combined makes it easy to see why GM are able to sponsor players from a wide-ranging number of domestic and international teams, as players and punters alike marvel at the quality of willow that GM offer.

In New Zealand, Players Cricket has made a name for itself for being one of the leading cricket specialists in the world, let alone in their own country. The image they sent us not only showed off the incredible GM range, but also shows off their astounding appetite for providing

The fixtures come almost as quickly as the runs in the Vitality Blast with GM players once again providing a number of match-winning contributions all over the country this week.

Graham Clark made the highest score of the week for GM, striking a boundary-laden 65, including seven 4’s and three 6’s as his Durham side beat the Birmingham Bears. Having been asked to bat first, Clark opened the batting and put on 126 for the first wicket, laying the platform for Durham to reach 220/6. Despite a partnership worth 110 for the fourth wicket, Durham’s total proved too much as Birmingham were only

  3. Sensational Smith shines in Shanghai!

Michael Smith has claimed the biggest title of his career!

The Team Unicorn star was crowned Shanghai Masters Champion on Saturday as he beat Rob Cross 8-2 in the final.

He swept aside Michael van Gerwen in the semi-final before dominating Cross in the final.

“It’s an amazing feeling to win a big TV title. I know it isn’t a Major but this is a big deal for me going forward. It is another big step and to beat the World No.1 and World Champion to do it makes it very special,” Smith said.

He went 4-0 up in the both the semi-final and final and wasn’t going to let it slip from there. Against Van Gerwen, the Unicorn man won all four legs on D10. The Dutchman threatened a fightback with three legs on the spin, including a 170 finish, but Smith got the job done in style as he hit three 180s in three legs to complete an 8-4 win.

He had earlier beaten Royden Lam - Gary Anderson’s conqueror - in the quarter-finals.....five

  4. Anderson stunned in China

It was a massive Shanghai Surprise.

Unicorn star Gary Anderson was knocked out of the Shanghai Darts Masters by Royden Lam. The No.1 seed losing a last leg decider to the Asian No.1 on Friday.

But he only has himself to blame.....crucial missed doubles cost Gary dearly and just days after winning the US Darts Masters in some style, Anderson failed to fire in China.

So instead of an all Unicorn quarter-final, it is Lam who will take on Michael Smith.

Anderson missed two darts to break in the opening leg and then six darts to win the third leg, so instead of being 3-0 up he found himself 4-1 down. He got back to within a leg only for the man from Hong Kong to take out 320 in six darts....180 and a superb 140 finish.

The Scot managed to force a last leg but Lam held his nerve to win with his third match dart when Anderson was sat on 22 himself.

Smith won an all Unicorn affair without dropping a leg. Team Unicorn’s 20-yr-old Xiaochen Zong

Official Europa League Match Day Ball!

The World Cup may have come and gone for England, but Molten have something created something worth cheering about for the upcoming domestic season.

    OfficialMatchBall

Last October, it was announced that Molten had become the new supplier of the Official Europa League Match Ball, and earlier this year UEFA announced that the Europa League would be undergoing a new brand identity. Now, the fruits of that labour have come to fruition.

The new ball was adapted from Molten’s flagship football model, the Vantaggio 5000. Molten’s unique thermal bonding technology produces a smooth, seamless cover and enhances shape retention whilst

  7. 5 Go Mad On Cycles

Starting to incorporate the number of each blog in this darts science refresher course into the title seemed like a good idea at the time. “3 Degrees of Incidence” wasn’t great, maybe, but I was pretty happy with “4 Stalling”. This latest one had me scrabbling around a bit, though.

Yaw RollI did briefly flirt with “5 Bore On”, which, as this blog gets a mite technical later, contains both a regrettable element of truth and a regrettable pun on element atomic number 5. Instead I’ve reluctantly settled, as you see, for an Enid Blyton/Comic Strip reference. Promise I’ll try to do better next time!

Anyway, let’s move on to the subject for today, which is indeed cycles, specifically yaw cycles. In my previous blogs we have seen how the normal force

  8. Vitality Blast Round-Up

    Vitality Blast Round-Up

This week saw the beginning of the Vitality Blast T20 competition in England. The most explosive and popular cricket tournament in England kicked off in fine fashion with a number of GM batsmen racking up early runs.

    BenDuckett

The warm weather, flat pitches and fast outfields meant that quick runs were on the menu, typified by Northants batsman Ben Duckett who kicked off his campaign with a blistering 96, his highest score in the format, against Leicestershire. His innings came complete with 12 fours and 3 sixes before he was caught in the last over, as his efforts guided his side to 218/3. Incredibly, Duckett’s remarkable innings

  9. Amazing Anderson hits the jackpot in Vegas!

Gary Anderson produced a stunning display of dazzling darts to light up Las Vegas as he was crowned US Darts Masters king!

The Team Unicorn superstar claimed his 6th World Series title in some style. From 1-4 down, he reeled off seven straight legs to beat Rob Cross 8-4 in the final at the Mandalay Bay.

Earlier Gary produced an epic fightback to take a thrilling all Unicorn semi-final in a deciding leg against James Wade.......Wade had earlier walloped Michael van Gerwen and was 6-2 up against Anderson, but the Scot battled back to win 8-7.

“It has been some day!” Anderson said. “To be honest I hadn’t picked up the darts for three or four weeks because I was away with the family. Perhaps that’s the way forward! They were two special games against James and Rob, but I just felt like it was my day.”

When Anderson is playing like that, it really is a thing of beauty and he was unstoppable.

The Unicorn man had a bit

  10. Wade survives scare in Vegas!

Unicorn star James Wade just avoided another shock defeat on the opening day of the US Masters.

Team Unicorn stablemate Gary Anderon produced the performance of the day in Las Vegas with a stunning average of 112.63, while Michael Smith was also a winner.

But Wade, who was on the end of a big upset 12 months ago in Vegas when he lost to Dawson Murschell, had to survive match darts before edging past American youngster Danny Lauby.

‘The Machine’ found himself trailing 4-2 to an inspired American. The Unicorn man had taken out 141 to stay in the match and got a huge slice of luck when Lauby missed six darts to move 5-2 in front.

Wade still had work to do after a 120 check-out saw Lauby lead 5-3....but the American then missed two match darts to win 6-3 and Wade seized his opportunity. He forced the last leg decider and won it in some style with a brilliant 158 finish.

“I must bring the best out of these North American players!”
